Daily Schedule
As 1st Graders, our daily schedule stays the same MOST DAYS because we like consistency. However, we are also wonderfully flexible when we need to be. Life happens - even to us. So, please understand the following schedule may change according to whatever is going on that day.
- 8:30 - Students may arrive at school. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria. Those not eating breakfast are to wait in the gym.
- 8:40 - Students may enter their classrooms. We put things away and begin working on our Rise & Shine activities (calendar and morning work)
- 8:55 - Our day OFFICIALLY begins. If we aren't in our classroom by this time, we are late and we need a tardy slip from the office. Announcements from the office and pledges start our day, then we take a quick bathroom/drink break.
- 9:15 - Roadrunner Time
- 9:45 - Reading Block (Includes Guided Reading and Daily 5)
- 11:15 - Bathroom / Drink Break
- 11:22 - Lunch / Recess
- 12:00 - Bathroom/Drink Break followed by a Read Aloud and group activity
- 12:30 - Math Block
- 1:35 - Centers (all subjects)
- 2:05 - Bathroom / Drink Break
- 2:10 - Specials (PE, Art, Music, or Media)
- 2:55 - Stack & Pack (That is code for when we STACK our papers and other important stuff in our Take Home Folders and PACK our backpacks for when it is time to go home.)
- 3:00 - Science / Social Studies
- 3:40 Dismiss
Behavior
We follow 8 great expectations for living:
We absolutely LOVE earning Dojo Points! Mrs. Edmonson will give us Dojo Points anytime she possibly can. We can lose points when we are misbehaving as well. (However, Mrs. Edmonson would much rather give points than take any away!) We can earn awesome classroom prizes with our Dojo Points:
- We will value one another as unique and special individuals.
- We will not laugh at, or make fun, a person's mistakes, nor use sarcasm or put downs.
- We will use good manners, saying please, thank you, excuse me, and allow others to go first.
- We will cheer each other to success.
- We will help one another whenever possible.
- We will recognize every effort and applaud it.
- We will encourage each other to do our best.
- We will practice virtuous living using the life principles. (Life principles can be found here.)

- 100 points = Choose a book from the Prize Box
- 150 points = Lunch Date with Mrs. Edmonson (we get to eat in the classroom together)
Attendance
If your child is going to be absent, please contact the school office at 918-259-4430. Remember that school starts at 8:55am and ends at 3:40pm. If your child arrives after 8:55am, they will need to check into the office for a tardy slip. If you pick your child up before 3:40, you will need to check them out from the office and it will be counted as a "tardy" on their records (to indicate time missed from school).
Homework
All homework is due on Fridays. Everything is organized for us in our Take Home Folder. Click on the button below to go to the page with all of the details regarding the Take Home Folder.
Lunch
You are welcome to join us for lunch (or take us out to lunch). We eat at 11:25 each day in the cafeteria. Breakfast is served from 8:30 - 8:55 each morning. Please be sure to check in with the office when you arrive and get a visitor badge.

Birthdays
Birthdays are always welcome in our classroom. Please contact Mrs. Edmonson to let her know if you are going to be bringing us a special treat. Cupcakes or cookies around 3:15pm are perfect for our special day.
PTA
Lynn Wood has the absolute best PTA in the WORLD! Everyone should be a part. Being a PTA member DOES NOT mean that you will be asked to bake 500 cupcakes or serve on a committee or anything like that (although you are welcome to do that if you would like to). Being a member of the PTA just means you support your child and Lynn Wood. With your membership, our PTA provides our students with so much - like Scholastic News, Book-It incentives, school supplies, resources, and so much more!
Snacks
Mrs. Edmonson DOES NOT do snacks on a regular basis. There will be days that we have snacks - like birthdays or special activities - but for the most part, snacks get in our way. Snacks take time out of our day, are costly for Mrs. Edmonson and the same handful of parents that send snacks, and take away our appreciation of those special occasions in our lives that involve snacks. Snack time at home after school is a great opportunity for you to spend some time with us and ask us about our day.
